COE is a great invention : 1. Supposedly to help control car population. But does it solve any problem? I think individual perceptions vary. 2. Super high COE led to less having the ability to Afford a new car. Does this solve the problem? I not sure leh. Its not because i wanna be politically correct yew know? 3. The HUMAN NEED for taking cars REMAIN. Demand continue to be met by PHV, Taxis, Rentals, second hand cars. So, yew tell me, does COE solve anything significant? 4. A simple way to illustrate the point is : A road blocked due to say construction does not stop humans from using a car. Cars take alternative routes. Human needs for cars are not addressed by COE. Human needs remains. But I am super impressed by how much this tax has collected over the last 30 years or so. Only SG has the ability to implement this ? Maybe. One thing for sure, no country dared to adopt COE after all these many decades. It shows how talented Singapore leaders are. But without the Accepting citizenry, what's left?😅 Without the COE system, can Finance companies lend more at higher interest rates?
